Australia. Porsche is heading into the 2018 model year with a range of extras: From a greater suite of in-car connectivity services through to a larger colour palate for interior trim and exterior colours and an optional 22 kW (30 hp) power boost for all 911 S variants.
Expanded Porsche Connect features
Porsche Connect Plus – which is now available for the first time in Australia across all Porsche model lines – boasts additional features for the 2018 model year.
Up until now, Porsche Connect Plus offered Apple® CarPlay only, but now adds the LTE telephone module with SIM card reader as well as Wifi hotspot functionality and the Porsche Connect App.
The Porsche Connect App gives Porsche customers access to specific smartphone content via the integrated Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system in the centre console.
The following features are available as part of the Porsche Connect App: My Calendar, My Destinations, Contacts, Picture Navigation (navigation to GPS coordinates in picture), and First Mile / Last Mile navigation which provides convenient navigation outside the vehicle (ie, pedestrian navigation) for the remaining distance to the final destination and back to the vehicle again.
Updated range of colours with new options
Porsche is offering new interior and exterior colours across all model ranges. One such colour is Crayon, which is now available for all 911 and 718 models. Reserved for the 911 is four-coat paint in Saffron Yellow Metallic with intermediate sanding. This paint creates a great impression of colour depth. The optional sports exhaust system is now also available with tailpipes in high-gloss Black. For the 911 Turbo S in the Exclusive series, customers can choose Golden Yellow Metallic and a Black/Yellow Gold interior.
Cayenne colours for the new model year now include Purpurite Metallic, as well as Palladium Metallic as a special colour. The leather interior of the Macan is now available in Black/Luxor Beige. For the Panamera, the new exterior colours of Burgundy Red Metallic and Ristretto Brown Metallic are now offered, and the leather interior can also be ordered in Black/Luxor Beige. The club leather interior is available in the new colours of Cohiba Brown and Truffle Brown.
Power increase to 450 hp for all 911 S variants as an option
For all new 911 Carrera S, 911 Carrera 4S and 911 Targa 4S models, Porsche Exclusive offers a kit to increase power by 22 kW (30 hp) to 331 kW (450 hp) at the factory in Zuffenhausen.
The power package upgrade option includes larger turbochargers, Sport Chrono package with dynamic engine mounts, a modified brake cooling system and a uniquely designed twin central tailpipe sports exhaust system. Prices for the kit start from $24,580 depending on vehicle specification.
From June 2017 onwards the power kit will also be available from Porsche Tequipment as a retrofit option for 911 S models already fitted with the Sport Chrono package.
The model year change involves slight price adjustments across the Porsche range; but not, however, Panamera, Panamera Sport Turismo and 911 GT3 all of which were recently announced with 2018 model year pricing.
